The Son of God is also known as the Word of God and is as eternal as the Father and Holy Spirit. There was never a time that any member of the Trinity did not exist as they are all God and God is one. It was through the Word that all things that has been made were made, and it is also through the Word of God that we are saved from our selfish selves—this is Jesus Christ, the Savior. Now, Jesus has multiple names and titles, some of which have already been said. He is the Christ or Messiah, the Word of God, the Son of God, and the Son of Man. He is known as Jesus as well as Yeshua. He is God-incarnate. His incarnation is essential, otherwise He could save no one. Why do we need salvation? It is because none of us can match up against God’s righteous standard revealed to us in His law. With that in mind, we all stand condemned before it and none of us are capable of living the perfect, righteous lives necessary to meet it—except Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ being both God and man can keep the standard. Even so, that is not enough. Someone still needs to pay the penalty for the law broken. So, Jesus paid that penalty by dying in place for us though there was no reason for Him to die for sins committed by Himself since He did not sin. To be clear, sin is our rebellion against God’s law. Since Jesus Christ paid the penalty on our behalf, it is to Him we must turn if we are to find hope in being saved from the just penalty of our sin, which is death. He is all the more worthy of our devotion and recognition as the sin penalty He paid, the one that killed Him, ultimately proved unable to conquer Him with death. He conquered the death penalty in His resurrection meaning He has victory over death, making Him the only truly worthy one for us to turn to for hope in being saved from our condemning sins and gain eternal life.

So, to clear up some potential questions raised by this, let us look at the following: 

Can anyone be good or do enough good to be justified before God’s law and go to Heaven? 

No. Jesus Christ was the only one to ever do this and He is God incarnate.

So, God required His own Son to die for us? Isn’t that some sort of celestial child abuse? 

God is one. There has not been a time when the Son (the Word) was not. In other words, it was God’s law that was transgressed of which the penalty is death, and it was by God that the penalty of sin was paid on the cross.

How could one man pay the penalty for all? 

The fall of mankind came through a single human, Adam. Jesus Christ is the 2^nd Adam, the perfect Adam as he is not only God but also man. Through one man, all fell and through one man, all are given the opportunity to new life.

What must I do to receive new life? What must I do to be saved from my sins? 

Look to Christ and submit yourself to Him and His direction for your life. Believe in Him and His power to change you into the God-reflecting, image bearer you were meant to be. Call on His name and ask Him to change you into one of God’s children.

What do you say to someone who does not buy into this message of Jesus? Does it not sound like a bunch of mythical bologna so common in the world’s religions? 

Yeshua does not require anyone to believe Him to be true. He created everything, including mankind. We are His creation, and He does not require our recognition to be the God He is. He is the only way, truth, and life. There is no other way to find salvation from sin except through Him. There is no other place to find hope to escape the corruptions that plague each of us. All other proposed paths will ultimately lead to destruction.
